Band History:

Well the band has only been around for a couple years so there isn't much history per se, but there are some great stories...

"Where did the name 282 come from"?

We get that a lot. We actually started the band with 3 people, Aaron, Danny, & David, thus we had 1 "A" name and 2 "D" names. We played around with DAD or AD^2 and were leaning towards ADD which would stand for "Attention Deficit Disorder" but then the movie "The Rocker" came out and there went that idea. Later we had another member join the ranks and her name was Angie so then we had AADD. We thought about A2D2 but didn't want to get accused of being Star Wars nerds (even though some of us may be...) so we settled for 2AD2 and shorten it to 282 whenever possible.  Even though we now have some new members and other members are no longer with us, we still have decided to stick with our name because we think it's cool (and we spent a lot of time on the logo design).

"What is the story of the flying Rolands"?

So we just welcomed a new drummer into the band and he has his own set of TD20 Roland Electric Drums.  We met at the band room for practice and decided it would be great to go pick up his set of drums and use them for practice.  We loaded them up in the truck and briefly had the thought, maybe we should strap them down?  Naaaaaa.  We're just going a little ways.  We can just drive really slow.....  Weeeeellllllllllll, needless to say, it didn't work out as planned.  45 mph headed south on Hwy 59, we had lift off.  I remember vividly.  I looked in the rearview mirror and said uh-oh.  The drummer's eyes got as big around as pie plates, screaming no no no.  There was our new drummer's $8,000 set of Roland's rolling down the highway behind us.  Luckily there was no oncoming cars to run them over after they slid into the other lane, and some how the six cars behind us managed to stop before getting a windshield full of drums.  We gathered them up from all parts of the Hwy and had to go several yards down the opposite ditch to get some of the cymbols that rolled.  The whole time we were saying "we should have strapped them down".  We got them back to the band room and cautiously put them back together and plugged them all in, and what do you know?, they worked!  That says a lot for Roland.  We thought maybe when we get more popular we might could get a Roland sponsor out of the deal.

Didn't you guys enter that song contest for Poteau?

Why yes we did.  Which of course we didn't win, and thank you so much for bringing that up.  While your at it why don't give us a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it!  Ha ha just kidding (Princess Bride quote).  We aren't sore losers or anything, we think the song that won is a great song.  Ours just wasn't what they were looking for.  We do however think our Poteau song is a great song too so we're gonna put it on our album for your listening pleasure.

More to come...
